Our Guide to Spring Weddings

Are you thinking about planning a spring wedding? We know that spring is around the corner and we are excited to see weddings bloom this season. Spring is one of our favorite seasons to watch our couples say “I do.” Yes, we may have the occasional rain in the PNW, but that’s nothing an umbrella can’t fix. Spring is all about fresh blooms, celebration of new life, the clean scent of rain fall, and new beginnings. And at Elegant Affairs, we think that spring is the perfect option for couples to say their nuptials and begin the journey into newlywed life. Although the idea of spring showers may cause some couples to shy away from this season, spring can set a fresh tone for your big day. Today we are going to take you through the journey of our ultimate guide to spring weddings, from fashion to food - we’ve got you covered.

01: Location
One of our favorite aspects about hosting your nuptials in the spring is the endless options of locations. Not only does spring provide a cooler temperature to say “I do”, but it is prior to the hustle and bustle of the summer wedding season. Venues may offer off-season packages that include cheaper prices for spring nuptials. More budget-friendly options aren’t the only allure to a spring wedding, outdoor locations provide a perfect backdrop for spring settings. Outdoor venues such as gardens and parks will give your guests a glimpse of the beauty spring has to offer. As you select your spring location, be sure to focus on what the venue can provide. Carefully selecting a venue that can display all that spring has to offer is key.

02: Theme
As you choose your spring venue, create a theme that ties into your seasonal nuptials. We’ve planned and provided day-of-coordination to many a spring affair, and some of our favorites have brought the season of spring to the forefront. Using what the location provides, such as fresh florals, fresh air, and greenery can create a whimsical garden party theme. Using the backdrop of the venue can cut down on budget costs and decrease your need to add decor.

Garden parties are our favorite themes this season, but we also love intimate picnic parties, enchanted forest events, and tying in cottage-core. So, plan your theme with your location in mind, and remember to let your venue do the talking.

03: Food
For a lot of our couples, food is their favorite part of planning, and don’t worry– it’s our favorite too. Food has always been a way to bring people together and create shared experiences. Catering menus and options in the spring provide a fresh perspective and create a lighter farm to table fare. If you are planning a spring affair, ask your caterer if they have specific menu items that are featured in the spring. Perhaps a springtime charcuterie or fresh appetizers adorned with peaches, light cheeses, or a fresh burrata can bring a fresh spring twist. Spring can bring some fresh perspective to your food selection for your wedding day.

04: Attire
Wedding party fashion, and let’s not forget wedding guest attire, will make you swoon this spring season. We love that color palettes are flexible during the spring season and can easily sway from pastels, florals, tropical to bold. Fabric texture can also provide a whimsical spring touch, such as sheer or silk. As for the bride, sheer, subtle hues, or even touches of floral can tie into the spring theme. Need more of a subtle touch? Find yourself a pop of color with the heel or tie in a touch of florals. Don’t be afraid to be daring this season, spring is the perfect time to debut new fashion trends and revisit some of our favorites.

05: Honeymoon
Honeymoon funds are becoming a popular alternative to the traditional wedding registry. They give the happy couple the ability to travel or book their favorite destination with help from their wedding guests. Having a spring wedding means lower travel costs for your honeymoon. Prime travel season for tropical or honeymoon locations is in the summer. Prices are higher, including airline travel. If you plan on leaving for your honeymoon directly after you say “I Do” spring weddings allow you to be a little more budget-friendly with travel and package options.

06: Budget
One of the biggest draws to having a spring wedding is, it’s budget-friendly. Budget and wedding finances can be stressful. Choosing to host your wedding in the spring can lessen the stress and the impact on your wallet. Spring not only provides more options to choose from but also can be more budget-friendly. In most locations around the world, spring is considered off-season. Many vendors may offer off-season packages or deals to encourage couples to book off-season. This can include venues, caterers, and photographers. Not only can this season provide some relief for you, but it can also support your guests’ budgets. Travel can be expensive in high times, such as summer, and choosing a spring wedding can lessen the load on your wedding guests. Airline prices are often cheaper and if your guests are going to go the AirBnB route, booking during this time can be more affordable. So if you’re looking to choose more budget-friendly options, be sure to check out what spring can offer.

So if you’re thinking about planning a spring wedding, now is the time to act. Be sure to visit potential venues during the season, to ensure that you fall in love with what the season provides. Planning a wedding for the spring can provide you with more budget-friendly options, open the door to other wedding opportunities - such as planning your honeymoon- and can create an overall whimsical theme.
