Real Wedding: Johannah + Will

It’s not everyday when you get a call from the bride 4 months before their wedding saying we need to find a new venue. In the end it the best thing for Will + Johannah for their Ellensburg Wedding.

Originally these two were thinking of saying I DO at Canyon River Ranch but they wanted something a little different from their rehearsal dinner location but when presented with the notion they needed a new location it was perfect. With views of the canyon and Yakima River, this venue couldn’t have been more perfect for their outdoorsy couple.

What we loved most about this wedding where those little details. Johannah’s dad built the most incredible arbor for his only child to wed the love of her life. But it didn’t stop there, to make it even more special, he burned the couple’s initials into the arbor and then continued with this monogram onto the wood rounds that were used for their centerpieces.

A lot of special moments happened throughout the day starting with the father/daughter first look. I don’t know if there weren’t aware of the audience they drew for this special time but the emotion shared was so overwhelming and one of those moments of time I will never forget.

Something we knew about and even practiced during the rehearsal was there could be a train that could pass by at any time and good thing we were ready because on wedding day a train decided to speed past right as Johannah was ready to walk down the aisle. It was a great moment with lots of laughter!

After their wedding, our relationship continued a few months later when Will was a groomsmen for his Best Man’s Wedding in October and Johannah was a bridesmaid for our December wedding.

What started out as a minor wedding emergency turned out to be the most incredible opportunity. As my mom always says everything happens for a reason.

How many couples can say they fell in love their senior year and actually married their high school sweetheart? Well for Jordyn + Gavin that was exactly the case. In fact these two each knew from early on in their relationship one day they would get married.

When we first met Jordyn and her parents, I immediately felt a deep connection to this Kindergarten teacher. She was so poised and knew exactly what she liked and didn’t like, which meant for a great start to our relationship.

To top it off I was so thrilled to learn who they booked as their wedding photographer. I have been a totall fan girl of Andie Avery for the past year. On wedding day, I was so nervous to meet her. It was like meeting a rock star and I tried to keep it cool around her but I failed miserably.

One of my personal highlights yet very emotional was when I was entrusted with the couple’s vows and wrote them in their vow book. Truth be told I learned my lesson. I need to read through them before writing them down because these vows were so beautiful and got me very emotional.

The other was when we were doing bridal party photos when all of a sudden I heard Jordyn scream saying their was a mouse stuck in her dress. In reality it was a very very large bug that took a liking to the her stunning dress and held on for dear life.

Sadly, the bride’s grandmother passed away shortly before the wedding but Jordyn knew she wanted to make sure she was still included and well represented. We decided to dedicate her ceremony seat complete with her photo and a beautiful floral bouquet.

There were so many fun details about this wedding from the doughnut wall to all the incredible signage to a rockin dance party!

I just love this couple so much and we text regularly, which reminds me: Jordyn we need another dinner and/or drinks date!

Real Wedding: Megan + Ryan

TreeHouse Point has been on my bucket list ever since I started Elegant Affairs and I only had to wait 13 years to plan with a beautiful elopement of Megan + Ryan.

I was so excited when I first spoke with Megan about her plans to “elope” with Ryan along with both of their parents. The couple who is from Dallas saw the venue online and decided it was the most romantic spot. The decision to elope was very personal and I wanted to make their day the most special it could be.

Their ceremony and all parts of their day was a true testament to the love of one another and of those who have passed including the bride’s brother who used parts of his shirt as ribbon for her bouquet and for Ryan’s boutonniere.

Following photos at The Falls, the newlyweds along with their parents celebrated with a beautiful dinner at Salish Lodge. We re-purposed the lovely greenery from the ceremony to the dining table to make it a festive sweetheart table before returning back to their TreeHouse for their wedding night.

I wish I had more time with these two dynamic people before they headed back to Dallas but we are so excited that very soon they will be welcoming a baby girl into their lives and we are over the moon for them and their family. What a lucky little girl
