Honeymooning in an Organized Fashion

Wedding planning is one thing, and honeymoon planning is definitely another! That’s what we’re here for; sometimes it’s easier to have a helping hand with your wedding planning so you can focus on other details after you say “I do.” Here is a general guideline of how to proceed with planning your honeymoon!

Choose the destination. Pick a general location where you and your partner want to travel to. It doesn’t have to be specific as of yet, but decipher whether you’re aiming for hot or cold weather, and what you want the general environment to be (mountain ranch vs. tropical beach).

Activities. Make a list of the activities you want to take part in. For instance, if your dream destination is the Swiss Alps, jot down desired activities such as skiing, a sleigh ride, spa day, etc. If you will be going to Hawaii; snorkeling, going to a luau, learning how to surf could all be on your list. Have a general sense of what you and yours would like to do while on your trip. Then you can choose a specific location in whatever area you’re hoping to vacation in.

Choose lodging. Once you’ve decided the exact location you want to honeymoon, choose where you want to stay. You can choose an Airbnb, hotel, resort, even a Bed & Breakfast. Use what you’ve mapped out, as far as the types of activities you want to participate in, to consider any special accommodations different lodging options may have to offer. For example, some hotels located directly on the water have dock space available to reserve for boats and jet skis. Choose according to your activity preferences.

Make your lodging reservation. Make your lodging reservation before purchasing your flights. You want to make sure you have a solidified place to stay for the entirety of your trip. So, it’s better to purchase your airline tickets after you book the place you’ll be staying in. You also can easily cancel or change lodging reservations without a fee if you can’t find a flight that works around your lodging reservation (highly unlikely, but easier in the case that the hotel you want to stay in is booked during the time you bought your airline tickets around).

Book your flight. Lastly, book your flight! The sooner the better since airline ticket prices tend to increase the closer you are to your date of travel.

These steps are simple, yet important to perform in the correct order. We want to set you up for the least number of incidents along the way with the easiest remedies for possible road blocks. Happy honeymooning lovebirds!
