Monday Winery Nuptials | Shea + Tyler | Columbia Winery

January 25, 2022 Lori Losee

Wedding Photographer: The Lloyds | Wedding Planner + Officiant: Elegant Affairs | Florist: Oak and Fig Floral | Invitations: Minted | Transportation: British Motor Coach | Accommodations: Willows Lodge | Beauty: Salon Maison | Caterer: Herban Feast | Rentals: Cort Party Rental | Venue: Columbia Winery | Dessert: Better Than a Boyfriend Bakery | DJ: Brandon Ghorley

What’s better than a Monday wedding?

For Shea + Tyler, they always knew they wanted to get married on the day of their anniversary and it just so happened to land on a Monday, which is the perfect way to kick off your week.

We first met Shea and Tyler back in November 2018 at Tyler’s cousin’s wedding we were planning down in Cabo, Mexico. I instantly fell in love with these two the moment we met. Besides just them being super adorable, they were so much fun and truly the life of any party! I had the best time dancing with them at the reception, they sure know how to get down on the dance floor.

Flash forward 15 months later, we met up for the first time to talk about their wedding celebration.

Originally planned for August 2020, we got to work immediately finding them the perfect venue that would fit their vision, and that’s when we came up upon Columbia Winery in Woodinville. It was the perfect spot for these two to say I Do.

When it came to the design of their wedding, Shea’s inspiration stemmed from the thistle flower, which also happens to be the national flower of Scotland. It has become so well-known and is so easily recognized that it is probably one of the first things to pop into the minds of most when thinking of Scotland- well of course alongside the Scottish kilt, that Shea decided to wear on the wedding day to celebrate his heritage. (Fun Fact, Shea wore a kilt for that 2018 Cabo wedding!)

We incorporated the thistle into so many details. From the signage, wedding cake to floral centerpieces, we used the color palette of the thistle as our reference when it came to our color palette which turned out so beautiful.

Sadly, as the pandemic took a foothold into our lives, the decision was made to postpone their wedding so they could have the day they truly wanted and deserved. With the wedding pushed back a year, that didn’t stop these two from their honeymoon which was a countrywide road trip before returning a few weeks before their wedding.

Luckily, we had everything all planned from the year before so it really came down to the last-minute details. Plus Shea and Tyler put all their faith into us knowing they were in good hands when it came to decisions that needed to be made. I had the most fun working with these two and always looked forward to our Zoom chats.

I was over the moon when these two finally made their way back to Washington and our first and probably most important, dare I say critical agenda item left to tackle, wine tasting for the incredible menu they had planned. After deciding they had to have more than a few selections, Shea + Tyler decided to do a wine bearing with each dinner course, which was one of the best decisions they could have made.

But these two had a surprise for me when they asked me to be their officiant for their ceremony. It was such an honor to play this role on their big day. I loved crafting their script and the best part was incorporating a letter that was supposed to have been read by Grandma Kelly. Sadly, she passed away shortly before the wedding so I had the honor of reading her words that spoke volumes to anyone sealing their love to one another.

Now in the words of Grandma Kelly:

Marriage is serious. Too many people put it on like a hat they can take off again. I say you try it on at the store. You like it? Leave it and come back the next day. And the next. Don’t buy the hat unless you are certain. Have you had enough shopping? Now I’ll tell you what to do. Remember these words because marriage is not easy. Admit when you are wrong. And if you are right do not gloat. Never demand forgiveness nor hold it back. Always give it freely and learn to wait for it too. Do you understand? Spend time apart every year. That way you see what life is like alone. Then you will remember how good it is to be with your husband. Always take a step back so you can see your own luck and find new ways to make your partner happy. Stay healthy for you and for him. Have sex one time every week, maybe more if you want. This will help you to stay connected. Let your partner have bad moods and good moods. Don’t let anger make you act hastily. Walk away until your anger gets bored and leaves. Then you can talk again. The only rules in marriage are those that you both agree to. None of them are permanent. Reassess and renegotiate as the years go by. You will change. So will he. The marriage must change with you, or it will no longer fit as it once did. Keep love at the center of it all. That is the one constant. As long as you nurture that love and allow it to grow, you will be fine. Also, remember to visit your great-grandma that’s very important, or just come live with me that’s fine too. Ok bye bye.

Speaking of their ceremony, you really couldn’t get any more romantic as the barrel room was transformed into a beautiful candlelight romantic backdrop for Shea and Tyler to declare their love and commitment to one another.

After the ceremony and a delicious meal, the dance party commenced outside under the lights on the patio and everyone danced the night away under the stars and not even a few raindrops stopped anyone from one of the best nights of their lives. The night ended with the couple being whisked away in a gorgeous white Rolls Royce back to Willows Lodge.

Shea + Tyler, I love you two so much and wish you all the love and happiness in the world!

Destination Cultural Celebration | Kate + Neil | Alderbook Resort & Spa

January 20, 2022 Lori Losee

Photographer: Honeysuckle Photography | Videography: Fritz Guzman | Wedding Planner: Elegant Affairs | Florist: Oak and Fig Floral | DJ: Bamboo Beats | Beauty: Beth Brockerman Beauty Ink + Hair by Lesley Boynton | Rentals: Cort Party Rental | Venue: Alderbrook Resort & Spa |
Dessert:
Vashon Island Baking Co. | Photobooth: Puget Sound Photobooth Co. | Henna: Neha’s Mehandi Art

What’s better than 1 day of wedding festivities? Try 3!

For Neil + Kate, they wanted to treat their family and friends to a destination wedding weekend of events for their cultural celebration that included a henna party, Summer boil, Sangeet, Indian and Western wedding ceremonies followed by an outdoor reception at Alderbrook Resort & Spa in Union, WA.

When they first booked the venue, they had planned on well over 200 guests coming from all over the world including a large position of Neil’s family who live in India. Flash forward a few months later, a global pandemic hit, and the couple made the tough decision to postpone their wedding for a year until it was safe to have the wedding they wanted.

As we moved into 2021, restrictions were still in effect, and we didn’t know until a few months before if they were able to have the wedding and reception with all of their friends and family. Sadly, due to some travel restrictions, Neil’s family in India were not able to attend, but they were all in the minds of everyone this weekend.

One of the perks of renting out the entire venue for a long weekend, guests were able to really enjoy their mini-vacation at an incredible resort. To make the most of all their time together, Neil and Kate decided to have a 3-day wedding extravaganza.

Their celebration began on Thursday when guests were invited to a henna party.

Henna plays an integral role in traditional Indian weddings. Before the wedding ceremony, the bride (and occasionally their guests and bridesmaids) often have intricate designs painted on their hands, arms, and feet. This practice originated in India and the Middle East and remains an important part of the wedding process.

Kate started her henna at 6 am and due to the intricate design on her hands and feet, the process is very time-consuming and took nearly 6 hours. Her henna turned out beautifully and even got stunning as the weekend went on

One tradition that Kate followed was having Neil’s name hidden within the complex mehndi design on her palm. It took some time, but Neil did find his name. It was so much fun seeing him search for his name

To officially welcome all of their guests to their wedding, Neil + Kate hosted a tasty summer boil. It was the perfect way to start the festivities.

On Friday, guests were treated to an incredible Indian Dinner followed by the Sangeet.

A sangeet is another prewedding event that consists of dancing, singing, and celebrating for the couple and their closest relatives and friends. This extravagant celebration often happens the night before the wedding ceremony.

Guests were dressed in traditional Indian clothing, and it was such a colorful sight. All of the sangeet performances were so much fun and I love how every group was so creative in creating the best performance.

After some concern of weather, when Wedding day arrived the weather was the perfect backdrop for the morning Indian ceremony.

After photos, lunch, and a quick outfit change, the Western Ceremony was next. Again, like with the Indian Ceremony, Neil and Kate opted to wait to see one another until the ceremony.

As we were waiting to get started, I was with Neil, and he was starting to feel all the feelings of the day. He decided to just let his emotions come through and he was such a beautiful sight. I think a combination of waiting for this moment for nearly two years and knowing he was going to marry his best friend.

Neil walked down the aisle with total confidence and then seeing his face when he first got a glimpse of his bride was a total tearjerker. These two have a love that is so powerful and was incredible to witness.

After a beautiful ceremony, officiated by the bride’s Aunt Peg, the nuptials concluded with the kiss that ended all kisses.

One special moment that still makes me tear up nearly 7 months later is when Kate had a private moment with her grandmother. Kate surprised her by showing off her bridal bouquet and the special photo charm attached. The photo was of her grandfather who passed away a few years ago. And to see the reaction Kate’s grandmother seeing her husband’s face was so beautiful. There were so many happy tears it will be a memory I will forever treasure.

The only thing that Neil + Kate really wanted to do for their wedding was to fully embrace their venue, Alderbrook and that included an oyster bar. It was a great interactive station during their cocktail hour.

As the day turned to night the real party got started with not 1 but 2 first dances embracing both of their cultures before heading inside for an all-out dance party.

Having Neil + Kate choose us to be part of their wedding is something we will never forget. We have developed a lifelong friendship and I cannot wait to see them again and celebrate once again

Congrsts Neil + Kate, I love you two so much and I wish you two all the happiness.

Summer Winery Wedding | Jen + Justin | Novelty Hill-Januik Winery

January 18, 2022 Lori Losee

Wedding Photographer: Sound and Sea Photography | Wedding Planner: Elegant Affairs | Florist: Flora Nova Design | Beauty: Off White Makeup and Beauty | Dessert: Seatown Sweets | Wedding Dress: Nordstrom | DJ: Seattle Parties | Venue: Novelty Hill-Januik Winery

When you have planned and replanned your wedding there is no greater joy than when you can finally have the day you have been planning for more than 2 years.

For Jen + Justin, the wait was finally over when it came to their July wedding at Novelty Hill-Januik Winery in Woodinville, WA.

For their summer affair, they wanted a floral heavy wedding created by Flora Nova Design. From the incredible ceremony arbor and decor to the stunning table centerpieces and their lush linens that the couple purchased online.

We had the best time working with these two for 6 weeks was so much fun finalizing all their plans so they could fully enjoy their day with their friends and family.

Their beautiful ceremony was officiated by Justin’s sister and brother-in-law and was just perfect.

After the two said I Do, guests were treated to amazing food and drinks before entering the reception room that was transformed into a romantic dinner.

Now, if we are going to talk about their reception we have to talk about their incredible dessert bar by SeaTown Sweets.

After dinner and the best toasts, the party really got into full gear.

It was such an honor that Jen + Justin picked us to execute their wedding vision and we wish them all the love and happiness.
