When a Medical Emergency happens

Nerves can affect everyone involved with a wedding, not just the bride and groom as most people may think. Family members of the bride and groom usually feel anxious as well, whether it be about toasts, their big dance, or just making sure every is just perfect. What happens when a parent encounters a medical issues beyond just the normal wedding day jitters?

This situation happened to an Elegant Affairs couple. The bride's grandfather suddenly starting feeling unwell just minutes before the ceremony and required immediate medical attention. The EA team was there to support the medical emergency by calling 911 immediately and getting the urgent care the grandfather needed. We were also there to support bride emotionally as she was undoubtedly upset about the situation and assure her that her grandfather would be okay and that he would still want her to get married that day.

In the end the bride’s grandfather ended up recovering that night and rest of the wedding went on as planned.

What happens when your cake is wrong?

What would happen when the wedding cake your thought you ordered in pink shows up white?

Immediately panic right?

Wrong! 

A few years ago, we ran into the same potential wedding day crisis when the baker dropped off the cake only to discover that when we opened the box that it was the wrong color. Well after showing the baker the contract clearly showing they made the cake in the wrong color the next step was the figure out how to make our bride happy.

Knowing we couldn't get the pink cake as the bride had her heart set on, my assistant and I  had a job to do and was to make this cake be the best wedding cake possible and not let the bride know there was no issues. And we only had a few minutes before the bride would see the cake.

With the help of the venue owner (the wedding was held at a private home and the owners were friends of the bride), we decided to scout their gorgeously lavish garden for the perfect flowers to decorate the cake. We couldn't have lucked out more since the owners also owned a landscaping company. We found some gorgeous flowers and immediately we went to work.

Our fabulous bride loved how her cake turned out and we save the day!

So the morale of this potentially wedding day emergency was to make the best out of the situation and at the end of the day if they bride and groom are happy then we accomplished our goal.

What happens when a dress rips right before the wedding?

All the bridesmaids were sipping champagne, busy getting ready for pictures, when all of a sudden the bride hears “ripppp….oh no!!!”. The zipper of a bridesmaid’s dress ripped as she was getting it on. Three hours until the wedding starts, 1 hour until pictures, the bride asks the wedding planner for help.

The wedding planner was able to make calls to alteration places nearby while the bride and her maids continued getting ready. They found an alterations store nearby and was able to fix the dress immediately. 40 minutes later the dress was fixed and all the bridesmaids were dressed and ready for pictures on time.
