Finding the perfect spot to Say I DO!

After you get engaged, one of the first thoughts that may cross your mind is location. As an events company based in the Pacific Northwest, we have been fortunate enough to work with some of the most beautiful outdoor and indoor spaces that this corner of the world has to offer; and that’s just in the PNW! There are gorgeous venues throughout the world and as a newly engaged couple, this venue world is your oyster…almost to a fault! There are so many choices that it can be intimidating, making it difficult to narrow them all down to one space. Here are a few things to think about as you go about picking your perfect venue.

Budget. Now we’ll start looking at the budget since you have a general idea of what and where. It’s always fun to tour different venues, but you don’t want to fall in love with something that you won’t be able to afford; the heartbreak can be unreal in this situation. Talk it over with your partner and when you come to a mutual agreement, begin to tour the venues you can afford following the above guidelines you’ve already laid out for yourself. This will make the process much less stressful knowing you can say yes if you want to. You will be confident and excited when you look at the owner of the venue and say, “we’ll take it.”

Hot or cold. First and foremost, you need to decide if you’re shooting for a summer or winter event. This will help you steer toward an indoor vs. outdoor space, or a venue that offers both. From here you can start deciphering the finer details of what you’re looking for. Another thing to take into consideration is if you need a tent if you choose an outdoor venue, just in case of inclement weather.

Distance. Secondly, consider distance and travel when it comes to the guests you wish to invite on your special day. If your great aunt and uncle are required to be in attendance, contemplate the means of transportation by which they will be traveling to the location and how long it will take for them to do so. You want to be considerate without sacrificing your own dream location; but what makes a party is the people, right? You want everyone you love (whether this number be large or small) to take part in a celebration that you’ll remember for the rest of you and your partner’s life. This holds true for how many kids will be there and what that age group entails as well. One more item that is linked with distance; expense. Anything can ultimately be managed for you and yours, but deliberate with your other half about an average budget your guests can afford when it comes to travel expenses.

Your needs. After you’ve decided on indoor/outdoor (or a combination), the distance/general geographical location you’re aiming for, and the budget you and your other half have decided upon, you can finally look at the nitty-gritty; what you want your wedding to feel like, look like, and where everyone will be prepping, eating, and dancing. This is the most fun!

Although it can be a bit intimidating, picking out the perfect venue for you and your fiancé can be a joyful and thrilling experience if you follow these helpful tips.

Wedding Etiquette: Speeches

September 15, 2020 Lori Losee
wedding toasts

This week we’re talking about speeches, and as someone who hates public speaking, this topic pretty much terrifies me. But I know that when I am asked to speak at a friend’s wedding, I will rise to the challenge and have a glass (or two) of bubbly before to calm my nerves.

Here are my top four suggestions for having the perfect wedding speech:

Say Yes: First and foremost, if you’re asked to speak at a wedding, you have to say yes. If you’re like me, from the moment you agree to it, to the moment you are standing up their speaking you will be freaking out, but you have to do it! You have to support your friends and family on their wedding day.

Let Your Personality Shine Through: Just be you! If you’re not funny, don’t try to be, if you’re not a crier, don’t worry about it! The bride and groom know you and want you to speak at their wedding so don’t worry about putting on a show. If you share your feelings about the couple and wish them the best of luck in their marriage your speech will be perfect!

Be Conscious of Time: This is one of the most important elements to writing a good wedding speech. Don’t make it too long, there are a lot of things to do during a wedding reception and there are most likely multiple speeches to get through so don’t hog the microphone! And on the other hand, don’t make it too short, you don’t want it to seem like you have nothing to say about the couple! Find a happy medium, usually somewhere between 2 and 3 minutes.

End with a Toast: Don’t forget your ending, encourage everyone to raise their glass and toast the happy couple!

And just like that, cheers, you are don’t with your public speaking for the evening!

Real Wedding | Double Wedding Ceremony | Bella Luna Farms

September 10, 2020 Lori Losee

When Smita + Johann first brought us into the planning process, they were deciding between two venues for their September 2015 Wedding. What it came down to was Bella Luna Farms up in Snohomish had everything and then some.

What we loved about this wedding was all the cultures melting together between these two families and that started with two wedding ceremonies, a Hindu Ceremony in the morning followed by a Western Ceremony in the afternoon.

There were some many pieces that went with this wedding not to mention the two ceremonies and it took a village to make this couples' vision come together. We had been dying to do a wedding with Sail Tents and it didn't let us down. Unsure of the weather, we chose to have a Tent for the ceremony area. We loved the seating and the florals that created an experience as guests entered that morning.

For the Western Ceremony, we wanted to give area a different look so the team from the venue who also served as the florist added some different touches to the arbor. Then after they took down all the flowers and created a whole new floral piece to welcome the guests into the dinner tent.

What this venue excels at are the lush grounds and European-style outbuildings including livestock (we loved the goats and donkeys the best). And the color palette only created more beauty around the venue.

With the amazing team of vendors that Smita + Johann put together we had the best time along with their friends and family.
