Real Wedding: Megan + Steve

For Megan + Steve,  celebrating their lifetime commitment and the bringing together of two families they wanted the perfect venue that would fit their theme of a truly Northwest inspired wedding. By bringing together their families from California and Idaho, the Seattle Aquarium was the ideal location.

In working with these two incredible people, their main requirement for their wedding was FUN! Between walking through the exhibits during their cocktail hour, watching an otter feeding and the musically stylings of The Michael Benson Band, these two truly succeeded in every way possible. Not to mention the incredible dessert table by Dianne's Delights.

Between their emotional first look to their heartfelt ceremony performed by their friend Juan, anyone at this wedding could really feel just how much love was being shared that day and they were off to a great start as husband and wife.

One of my favorite parts of the day was the entertainment provided by the fish inside the tank behind the head table. They were truly enthralled by the music and it was a show all in itself.

The one challenge we did face was the City of Seattle waterfront construction right in front of the venue. To be creative and hide what was going on outside, Prop Gallery did a phenomenal job draping off the windows. It was the perfect accent to the river rock filled cylinder vases with coral florals. The addition of the gray napkins made the table really pop.

Even though when the party ended at the Aquarium the after party was just really the start of the night for this fantastic group of people into the wee hours of the morning. Just how this couple wanted, their day started and ended with fun.

Tackling the Wedding Registry

One of the funniest aspects of preparing for your wedding is the creating the wedding registry. This can be a great bonding time with you and you fiance finding the best products to compliment your home and to start off your married life together. For men, its the power of the registry scanner and for women its picking out your own gifts. The key to a successful registry experience is to register together since this is for the both of you; and to make a whole day out of it by going out to lunch or dinner afterward. Remember the process can take anymore from one to three hours so make sure that you are not under any time constraints.

Here are some helpful hints for registering:

1. Determine what store(s) you want to register at and what are your needs for the household. Make sure that you register at stores you frequent and if you are going to register for a speciality store make sure that you register for a nationwide department store to accommodate all of your guests.

2. Register in person rather than online. This is best since you can touch and feel out the products and then after completing your registry you can always go online to change or add a product.

3. Register for items to fit every kind of budget. With the current state of our economy make sure to register for a wide variety of products with price points. But don't shy away from registering for big ticket items such as a luggage set since a new trend is for wedding guests to pool their money to purchase one large gift.

4. Do your research on household products. Before you register figure out what your needs are. Don't register for something just to register. Stick to one brand for linens, towels, stemware, luggage and china. This will avoid receiving several items from different product lines.

5. Before your wedding, find a reliable friend or family member to gather all of your gifts at the church and/or reception venue to bring to your residence.

Real Wedding: Lindsey + Jon

A perfect August day, crystal blue skies showcasing the Seattle skyline in the distance and a bride and groom made for each other; that's the best formula for a brilliant wedding day.

I was first introduced to Lindsey + Jon through one of our 2015 couples and they got to see first hand how we could make their day fun, memorable and stress-free which I think in turn made them feel a little more at ease when it came closer to their wedding day.

This couple was so organized which made my job super easy. We were tasked to take all of their ideas and hard work and put them into action starting with how to help make the color purple the main decor centerpiece. Their themed color along with accents of gray and cream was represented in the incredible floral designs of Laurel's Floral Decor. We just absolutely loved what Laurel came up with for the design of the arch. The flowers and draping were just the perfect backdrop for our couple to say their I Dos. We saw the purple throughout the day from the bridesmaid dresses to the men's ties, the bride's Prada shoes to the napkins and even a purple draped backdrop behind the sweetheart table.

It was those little touches that really made a different that day.  The table numbers that were hand-drawn by the groom and his best man of all the places were out couple traveled were incredible. By far my most favorite table number signs. They were done so beautifully and very detailed and were truly little pieces of art.

One of the challenges we knew we were going to face was the ceremony tent transformed into the dance party after dinner. Luckily for us the weather was on our side so after the ceremony, guests were ushered onto the patio for cocktail hour with beautiful music by the Windsong Trio while the staff at The Golf Club at Newcastle quickly broke down the chairs so Prop Gallery could come in and set-up the stunning dance floor lighting which really set the tone for the dance party.

Truly the night could not have been anymore perfect!

And then baby makes three. We are so excited for Lindsey and Jon who are set to welcome a baby girl in just a few short months!
